Mike Puma of the New York Post reported today that the Mets met with Adam Jones in Las Vegas during the winter meetings.

Jones, 33, would look to fill the role of a right-handed hitting outfielder for the Mets. Jones hit .281/.313/.419, with a .315 wOBA and 98 wRC+. His splits aren’t any more encouraging as he hit for a 93 wRC+ against left handed pitching, 99 against right handed pitchers.

Jones’ defense has been a sore spot in recent time, too. He had -18 defensive runs saved in 906.2 innings in his natural center field in 2018, which forced him to the corners, where he didn’t fare much better. Jones had -1 DRS in left field in just 13 innings, and -6 in 272.2 in right field.

Mets were said to have had some level interest in Andrew McCutchen, but stepped aside at the 3-year, 50 million dollar tag the Philadelphia Phillies gave him.
