Adam Rubin of ESPN NY writes that the Mets have signed right-handed reliever Buddy Carlyle to a minor-league contract and it does not include an invite to the big-league camp. On Monday, the Mets also signed lefty-reliever Dana Eveland to the same type of deal.
Carlyle, 36, last pitched in the majors in 2011 with the Yankees, where he was 0-1, with a 4.70 ERA, in 8 games. In his career he has also pitched for the Braves, Dodgers and Padres.
In 2013, he pitched in Triple-A with the Blue Jays organization and was 4-2, with a 3.86 ERA, with 76 strikeouts in 56 innings.
Eveland, 30, pitched last season in Korea and was 6-14, with a 5.54 ERA, with 129 strikeouts in 172.2 innings. His last stint in the majors was in 2012 when he played with the Baltimore Orioles, and was 0-1, with a 4.73 ERA in 14 appearances which included two starts.
