The New York Mets have signed a minor league agreement with Mexican League pitcher Giancarlo Alvarado.

The 35-year-old right hander has officially signed with the team, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Previously with the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League, Alvarado was 0-2 with a 4.03 ERA over 38 innings pitched this season.

After beginning his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1995, Alvarado has bounced from one minor league team to another, never breaking into the big leagues.

The 17 year veteran has spent time pitching for the Reds, Brewers, Dodgers, Angels and Tigers, even playing for a few years in Japan, before moving to the Mexican League. Despite having almost two decades of professional experience, Alvarado has never made it past AAA ball.
