According to MLB Trade Rumors, Hot Foot, and Impacto Deportivo the Mets have signed Luis Castillo to a four-year, $25 million contract. The Mets expect to make a formal announcement shortly.

The Mets got Luis Castillo via trade in July at the Trading Deadline. He hit .296 for the Mets and provided solid defense. He is 32-years old, however. Castillo’s age will play a big part in the next few years for the Mets.

Well, we can kiss David Eckstein goodbye, and any chance of Brian Roberts in a package. Four years is a pretty long time, hopefully he doesn’t breakdown. I guess Omar can now focus on getting that catcher we need.
