The Mets have signed right-handed hitting catcher Nevin Ashley to a minor league deal. He played a majority of the 2015 season in AAA Colorado Springs Sky Sox (PCL) for the Milwaukee Brewers hitting .306/.374/.442 with eight homeruns, four triples, and knocked in 61 runs.

The 31-year old also made his Major League debut in 2015 going 2 for 20 with the Brewers in 12 games.

He was originally a 6th round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006 out of Indiana State University. Nevin is a career .263/.353/.387 hitter in 870 minor league games spanning 10 seasons.

He has thrown out 36% of would be base stealers in 700 minor league games behind the plate. He has also played three games in his career at first base and they all came in 2015.

His wife’s name is Ashley Ashley meaning I really hope he makes it to the big leagues so Keith can fumble over that.
