boone logan

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the New York Mets are said to be showing interest in free agent reliever, Boone Logan.

With Jerry Blevins possibly on his way out via free agency, Logan would be a good fall-back option for the Metropolitans. The former Colorado Rockies pitcher was one of the better left-handed relievers in the game this past season.

Against lefties in 2016,  he held opposing batters to a .142 batting average while striking out 40 and pitching to an ERA of 1.72 over a total of 31.1 innings.

Unlike Blevins, he was not as successful though against right-handed hitters. His ERA against righties was 7.80, where he allowed 16 runs, 13 of which were earned in 15 innings. The batting average though for right-handed hitters was still pretty low at .211.

Combining his splits would leave you with a 2-5 record and an ERA of 3.69 in 66 games pitched for the Rockies. He struck out 57 batters in 46.1 innings while pitching to an impressive WHIP of 1.01.

Logan would not be a bad option for the Mets as they will need a lefty specialist if Blevins does indeed leave for another team in free agency.
