The New York Mets made a handful of roster moves on Friday afternoon.
The Mets placed reliever Bobby Wahl, acquired in the deal that sent Jeurys Familia to the Athletics, on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Through seven appearances with New York (5.1 innings), the 26-year-old right-hander owns a 10.13 earned-run average with seven strikeouts and four walks allowed.
Replacing Wahl in the Mets bullpen will be Stony Brook University alum, Daniel Zamora.
Zamora, 25, was acquired from Pittsburgh in the Josh Smoker trade this past offseason.
In 40 appearances this season (51.2 innings) for Double-A Binghamton, the left-hander has a 3.48 ERA, 69 strikeouts compared to just 16 walks, a 1.026 WHIP, and a 3.74 strikeouts-to-walks ratio. We did a spotlight on Zamora earlier today.
Zamora was an Easten League All-Star this season and has allowed only one earned run (0.69 ERA) on two hits in his last 13 innings.
The team also announced that Phillip Evans has been placed on the 60-day disabled list (fractured left tibia), ending his 2018 season. Evans suffered his injury via a hard slide courtesy of the Nats’ Adam Eaton on August 1.
The 25-year-old hit .143/.217/.143 in 21 at-bats with the Mets this season and slashed .256/.327/.493 with 14 homers, 39 runs batted in, and eight doubles in 219 at-bats with Triple-A Las Vegas.
