Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports the Mets are scheduling their second round of manager interviews. While the date of his interview is not yet known, the second round of interviews will now include Twins Bench Coach Derek Shelton.

Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who is the current favorite for the Philadelphia Phillies opening, is scheduled to interview with the Mets for a second time today.

Eduardo Perez and Tim Bogar will receive their second interviews in the succeeding days. For Bogar, his interview will be during the off day between Games 2 and 3 of the World Series.

At the moment, the date of Carlos Beltran‘s or Luis Rojas‘ second interview is not known. For that matter, it is not known if those interviews had already transpired.

This leaves Mike Bell, the Diamondbacks Vice President of Player Development, and Skip Schumaker, the Padres first base coach, as the only known candidate who has not been scheduled for a second interview.

According to a separate report from Sherman, neither Bell nor Schumaker will be receiving a second interview. This means barring the inclusion of another not yet known candidate, it appears the next Mets manager will be one of Beltran, Bogar, Girardi, Rojas, or Shelton.
