Earlier this afternoon, we here at MMO posted an article on how the 40-man roster stacks up. One more spot just became available, as we had speculated.

According to the Mets on Twitter, the team has released outfielder Norichika Aoki.

Aoki, 35, was picked up by the Mets for the final month of the season, but was due for a significant pay bump through salary arbitration this winter.

In 27 games for New York, he hit .284/.371/.373 with zero homers and eight RBI in 116 at-bats.
