Tim Britton of the Athletic reports that the Mets have released Marcos Molina to make room on the 40-man roster for Matt den Dekker.

The right-hander was once a top prospect in the Mets’ farm system, but after missing all of 2016 after undergoing Tommy John Surgery, his velocity never came back with him.

That has led the 23-year old to have a 1-10 record, 6.94 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, and only 64 strikeouts in 16 starts (81 1/3 innings pitched) this year between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas.
