On Tuesday afternoon the Mets released their top draft pick from 2015, Desmond Lindsay.

Lindsay, now 24, was batting .155 with one home run, five RBI, and 25 strikeouts across 59 plate appearances in 18-games with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies this year. In his 6-year minor league career the outfielder has a career batting average of .233 in the Mets’ system.

Lindsay was drafted from the Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Florida and impressed scouts with his speed and elite fielding ability. While being injured numerous times throughout his less than stellar tenure with the Mets, Lindsay only appeared in 260 games, and accumulated 20 stolen bases.

At the end of the day, injuries are what kept the once highly touted prospect from breaking out with the Mets, at any level.
