The Mets have called up number 11 overall prospect and top catching prospect Tomas Nido according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Nido, 23, had a down year offensively during which he hit .232/.287/.354 with eight home runs and 60 RBIs. He was, however, phenomenal defensively, throwing out an amazing 45% of potential base-stealers and allowing only six passed balls in 102 games.

MMO’s own Rob Piersall caught up with Nido back in July. You can read the full interview here.

He has tremendous upside both defensively and offensively. Just last season he hit .320/.357/.459 with seven home runs in 90 games for High-A St. Lucie. It will be interesting to see how working with Mets hitting coach Kevin Long will help him going forward, as many view him as the catcher of the future.
