The New York Mets announced Sunday that they have recalled right-handed relievers Tim Peterson and Tyler Bashlor from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned southpaw Ryan O’Rourke and right-hander Chris Flexen.

After Saturday’s 18 inning marathon game where the Mets taxed their bullpen, they have brought in some reinforcements.

Peterson, 28, has appeared in four games this year for the Mets, and has logged a 4.50 ERA in four innings pitched.

For Triple-A Syracuse, he has appeared in seven games and pitched to a a 3.00 ERA. As Jacob Resnick of MetsMerized points out, Peterson pitched one inning of work last night in Syracuse and logged 19 pitches, so Bashlor might get an opportunity first when a relief situation arises.

Bashlor, 26, pitched in 24 games for New York last season and registered a 5.44 FIP, 1.188 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 and 88 ERA+.

With Syracuse this season, the Georgia native had a 5.84 ERA in 11 games, but has allowed just two runs in his last seven outings.
