The Mets have recalled Kevin Herget from Triple-A Syracuse. The team has also designated Richard Lovelady for assignment to make room for Herget after the lefty threw two innings in Wednesday’s loss to the Cubs.

New York also announced that Chris Devenski has been outrighted to Triple-A. This, after the team DFA’d him this past Sunday.
The team is once again in need of fresh arms after both David Peterson and Jonah Tong were unable to get more than six outs in their most recent starts.
Herget has had a rollercoaster season, as many of the Mets’ relievers have this season.
The Mets righty made his first appearance of the year in April and was subsequently sent back to Triple-A and then DFA’d. After pitching in one game for the Braves in July, he returned to New York, where he has made four appearances spread across two months.
His ERA as a Met is 3.27 over 11 innings this year.
