Prior to Saturday afternoon’s matchup against the Pirates, the Mets announced a handful of roster transactions.

Right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter was designated for assignment and left-handed pitcher Zach Muckenhirn was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets also announced that right-handed pitcher John Curtiss and left-handed pitcher Josh Walker have been called up from Syracuse.

Hunter was 0-1 with a 6.85 ERA this season for New York. In 28 innings pitched he struck out 20 and walked five.

Muckenhirn pitched six innings. He had a 6.00 ERA with three strikeouts and two walks.

Curtiss will rejoin the club. So far this season he has a 4.85 ERA over the course of 13 innings pitched. He has seven strikeouts and five walks.

Walker has spent the season predominantly with Syracuse. With Triple-A he is a 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA. He has 26 strikeouts and 10 walks over the course of 18.2 innings pitched this season.

Walker has pitched just one relief inning for New York this season in which he did not allow a run.

The Mets have lost their last seven games. They look to gain some momentum and try to get back into the win column on Saturday afternoon against the Pirates.
