Multiple outlets are reporting that today’s signings of lefty Tom Gorzelanny and righty Fernando Salas by the New York Mets will not stop their pursuit of free agent lefty Jerry Blevins.

The Mets bullpen is starting to round out with the only glaring need left being a veteran LOOGY and Blevins held lefties to a .220/.278/.284 slash line in his time with the team.

Last night it was reported that right-handed reliever Sergio Romo was choosing between the Los Angeles Dodgers and a mystery team to sign with. The tweet by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports also reported that the Dodgers have stayed in contact with another right-handed reliever in Joe Blanton.

Rosenthal is now reporting that those two aren’t the only relievers on the radar for the Dodgers, they have interest in lefty Jerry Blevins as well.

Buster Olney tweeted last night that Blevins had at least one offer on the table that was similar to the deal Boone Logan recently signed with the Indians for one-year, $6.5 million guaranteed. The Logan deal pays him $5.5 million for 2017, has an $7 million option for 2018 with a $1 million buyout.

The Mets have shown interest in both Romo and Blevins this offseason. Mike Puma of the New York Post suggested the Mets are now open to trying a back-loaded two-year deal for Blevins.

Romo, Blanton and Blevins represent arguably the three best relievers left on the free agent market.
