According to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com, the Mets have re-claimed LHP P.J. Conlon off waivers from the Dodgers.
The lefty was DFA’d by the Mets less than a week ago to make room on the 40-man roster, and was claimed by the Dodgers on Saturday. The 24-year old Belfast native will now return to the Mets and be assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Conlon made his big league debut earlier this month, and despite showing positive signs in two starts with the Mets, he had an ugly 11.12 ERA. Over four minor league seasons, he has posted a 2.85 ERA with 278 strikeouts in 334.2 innings.
In a corresponding move, Phillip Evans has been designated for assignment for the second time in the past eight months.
Evans had a couple of brief stints with the big league club this season. In seven games, he had just one hit over nine plate appearances. In 19 games with the Mets in 2017, he hit .303 with two extra-base hits.
