The New York Mets on Tuesday announced their matchup versus the Detroit Tigers was postponed due to inclement weather. The team tried to play the game despite the weather forecast of rain just about all night. The game started in a delay, but it could never get underway.

The game will be made up at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday.

Adrian Houser was set to make his Mets debut opposite Casey Mize, the Tigers’ former No. 1 overall pick, who is set to make his first MLB start since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022.

The prospects for Wednesday’s game are not much better. Both teams have an off day on Thursday, and that would likely be the best opportunity for the teams to fit in two games, despite the ugly day forecasted.

If they were to make up the next two games in a doubleheader, the Mets would be allowed to call up Joey Lucchesi or Jose Butto to make a spot start. Otherwise, either pitcher wouldn’t be able to be called up to replace Tylor Megill in the rotation until April 12.
