Looking at the Mets schedule that will kick in immediately after the All Star Break, just one word comes to mind to describe it…

GRUELING

The Mets begin the second half with 18 games in 17 days and not a single day off during that span. Here is what they’re up against:

  • July 19, 20, 21 vs. Phillies
  • July 22, 23, 24, 25 vs. Braves
  • July 26, 27, 28 at Nationals
  • July 29, 30, 31 at Marlins
  • August 1 at Marlins
  • August 2, 3, 4 vs. Royals

That will be a make-or-break run for the Mets in terms of whether they can somehow continue their solid play and get themselves into the second wild card conversation. Or of course, it could go the other way too.

Time will tell, but one thing is certain… those 17 days will be quite the test for our Amazins. This must be what they mean by the Dog Days of Summer…
