After Sunday’s exciting 7-2 win over the Reds, the Mets announced that LHP Jack Leathersich was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The move was necessitated to make room for Steven Matz and to bring the roster back to 25 active players after carrying an extra player for today’s quasi-doubleheader.
I thought Leathersich had some solid outings from the pen, so I’m sure we’ll see him again. He’ll get a chance to work on reducing his walks.
Leathersich posted a 2.31 ERA in 17 appearances out of the bullpen this season, allowing just three runs in 11 2/3 innings pitched with a 10.8 strikeout rate.
Expect another roster move on Tuesday when the Mets activate Daniel Murphy from the disabled list.
