The Mets announced on Thursday afternoon they’ve optioned left-handed reliever Daniel Zamora to Triple-A Syracuse and recalled right-hander Walker Lockett from Syracuse.

Lockett, 25, is making his Mets debut on Thursday night as the starter vs the Cubs. Lockett had a 3.69 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and struck out 15 in 31.2 minor league innings this year. He began the season on the injured list with elbow soreness.

The Mets acquired Lockett in the offseason along with minor league infielder Sam Haggerty from the Cleveland Indians in return for catcher Kevin Plawecki. Lockett made four MLB appearances last year with the Padres and one of them was a start against the Cubs. He went five innings allowing five runs on nine hits.

Zamora has struggled in the big leagues this year with a 5.60 ERA in 6.1 innings.
