cespedes

Mets have officially signed Dominican outfielder Ricardo Cespedes. The Mets had already reached a verbal agreement with Cespedes during the International Free Agent signing period in July. But because he was only 15 years old, the rules of the new CBP prohibited the Mets from legally getting his name on a contract.

Today, Cespedes turned 16 and the Mets made it all official. The young and very talented outfielder is reportedly getting an $800 thousand dollar signing bonus.

The 6-foot-2 left-handed slugger has “a nice swing and a line-drive, gap-to-gap approach” according to Baseball America.

“He doesn’t have the athleticism or raw power that Ahmed Rosario had, but he has a cleaner stroke while showing solid speed and arm strength.”

We’ll see him in about 6-7 years if all pans out….
