Mets Numbers Tell The Story

Matt over at Metsblog had a very telling statistic on his site today. Apparently, Howard Johnson is having a great impact as hitting coach for the Mets.

Check out what Matt wrote…

Prior to Rick Down being fired as the team’s batting coach, the Mets hit .268 as a team, .252 with runners in scoring position, while they have reached base roughly 33 percent of their plate appearances.

Meanwhile, since Howard Johnson was hired as the team’s hitting coach, the Mets are hitting .288 as a team, .309 with runners in scoring position, while they have reached base roughly 36 percent of their plate appearances.

I don’t know about you, but I felt like the Mets were hitting a little bit better of late, but I had no idea they had improved this much.

Nice going HoJo!
