LHP Josh Edgin continues to progress in his rehab as he seeks to return from Tommy John Surgery. Edgin tossed live batting practice to third baseman David Wright on Tuesday in Port St. Lucie according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. The hard-throwing lefty reliever is expected to return to the Mets sometime in May after missing the entire 2015 season. He was beginning to emerge as a valuable lefty reliever before his elbow injury. He posted a 1.67 ERA and 0.915 WHIP in 2014 with a 9.2 strikeout rate.

RHP Zack Wheeler took another step forward in his rehab this afternoon, throwing from the top of the pitching mound for the first time since his Tommy John surgery last March. On Saturday, Wheeler tossed roughly 10 pitches from the slope of the pitcher’s mound and said he felt great. “As small as it was, it’s a big milestone,” Wheeler said. The 25-year old righty is expected to return to the rotation in July.

RHP Erik Goeddel threw 15 pitches from a mound for the second time on Tuesday, and expects to have one more mound session before possibly getting into an exhibition game, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Goeddel has been dealing with a lat strain and on Saturday, manager Terry Collins said he’s unsure if he will be able to start the season on time with the Mets. Goeddel posted a 2.43 ERA in 35 appearances during his 2015 rookie season.
