On Sunday, the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A) put outfielder Drew Gilbert on the seven-day injured list. According to Anthony DiComo of SNY, Gilbert’s injury is a, “mild strain of his right hamstring.”

Gilbert was removed from Syracuse’s game against Scranton Wilkes/Barre on Saturday. He was injured in Game 2 of the doubleheader after legging out an infield single that deflected off the pitcher’s glove. After advancing to second base on a wild pitch, he was taken out of the game for a pinch runner.

Gilbert, who is MMO’s second-ranked prospect in the Mets system, slashed .289/.381/.487 (.868 OPS) across the High-A and Double-A levels last year. He was acquired in the Justin Verlander trade and is a possibility to break into the major leagues at some point this season.

To begin his first season at the Triple-A level, Gilbert is 6-for-25 (.240) with one home run. He has struck out 10 times.
