Kim Ng still in running for Mets GM vacancy.

As per Mike Puma of the New York Post, the New York Mets have begun to whittle down their list for potential general managers. With the offseason rapidly approaching, it appears the Mets have kick-started the process a bit.

First, Puma reported that the “Mets consider Dave Littlefield a ‘fringe’ candidate at this point”, though wouldn’t confirm whether he was officially out of the running. Although, he did confirm that Nats special assistant De Jon Watson would not be meeting with the team again.

A short while later, Puma again narrowed the field, relaying that Cardinals player development director Gary LaRocque “won’t be receiving a second interview”, adding that “he was told his lack of experience dealing with agents was a significant factor”.

The three remaining known candidates for the Mets’ GM position are MLB executive and former Dodgers executive vice president Kim Ng, Tampa Bay vice president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, and former Brewers general manager Doug Melvin.

As was reported earlier today, the Mets will begin conducting their second round of interviews next week, and both Fred and Jeff Wilpon will be conducting this latest round.
