After two rehab starts in Port St. Lucie, Walker Lockett made his season debut for the Syracuse Mets and tossed gem. Lockett only allowed one hit through the first five innings of the game as he was able to induce a lot a weak contact resulting in eight ground ball outs. Lockett is still being stretched out so he began tiring out in the sixth inning after exceeding his previous season high of 59 pitches. However, he was able complete the inning and left the game in line for the win with a 5-2 lead.

Eric Hanhold kept the lead intact in the seventh inning but was asked to go a second inning for the seventh time this season and ran into trouble in the eighth. A walk, a single, and a double resulted in two runs scoring and a blown save for Hanhold who’s now allowed at least one run in six of his seven multi-inning appearances.

Right-hander Corey Oswalt was placed on the injured list a few days after leaving his last start with the trainer in the fourth inning.

Binghamton (29-18) 9, Richmond (17-31) 5 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies scored two runs in the ninth to send the game into extras then five in the top half of the 10th to get their 29th win of the season. They struck out just seven times.

Peterson snapped a streak of four straight starts of not allowing more than one run in a game. While he’s given up too many hits (49), he has struck out 49 and walked only 17 in 41.1 innings this year. McIlraith now has 4.2 no-hit innings with seven strikeouts in two outings since being promoted from St. Lucie.

Jupiter (14-35) 9, St. Lucie (26-25) 2 Box Score

The left-handed hitting Brodey is hitting .429 with five walks in his last 10 games. Carlos Cortes went 1-for-4 with his ninth double, he has reached base in 15 of his last 16 games.

Smith lowered his season ERA to 2.81 and now has 55 strikeouts in 48 walks this year. The 2018 seventh rounder has made 10 starts for St. Lucie.
