Syracuse (23-16) 12, Louisville (17-23) 3 Box Score

The Syracuse offense just poured it on in this one. Hector Santiago (the pitcher), Dilson Herrera, Luis Guillorme, Rajai Davis, and Carlos Gomez all homered. Gomez left the game and is likely heading to Miami. Gomez is hitting .343 with five homers over his past ten games. Guillorme has cooled off but still has a nice .420 OBP to show off.

Santiago has been a solid and reliable starter for Syracuse. He has gone five innings or more in every start except one. One of his big problems in his career are his walks and that still persists. In 43 innings, he has 23 walks. Tim Peterson has not allowed a run in his last four outings, which spans 5.2 innings. Caminero has been hit a little harder recently. He’s had outings where he’s given up 2-3 runs.

Trenton (22-14) 5, Binghamton (21-14) 4 Box Score

Gimenez continues to have an up-and-down season. His strikeouts are one of the higher marks in the league which is unlike his hitting profile. He should be able to re-adjust though. He’s has more than enough IQ to figure it out. Toffey ranks seventh in OBP for the Eastern League. His teammate, Sam Haggerty, ranks fourth in the league. Toffey is still recovering from surgery but has still shown an elite eye. Mazeika has homered in four of the last five games. In his last 10, he’s been hitting .341 with six strikeouts.

Gibbons has given up 15 runs over his last three starts. He’s been a filler in Binghamton primarily. McGeorge showed flashes of a solid fastball-slider combo in 2017. The Mets should hope he can regain that success after a down 2018.

St. Lucie (19-19) 2, Florida (17-23) 1 Box Score

St. Lucie scored both of their runs in the sixth inning with a Carlos Cortes double and Jeremy Vasquez single. Both came with two-outs in the inning. Cortes has cooled off the last 10 games but had a hot streak before that.

  • RHP Luc Rennie (3-2, 4.29 ERA): 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 7 K

The former Indy baller did it himself in this one. He can get his fastball up to 95 MPH and has shown a nice curveball. The Mets scouts may have found someone interesting here.

Florida (17-22) 3, St. Lucie (18-19) 2 Box Score

The offense had no real bright spots aside from Luis Carpio. Carpio has been hitting .389 in his last 10 games and .349/.364/.395 over the month of may. Looks like he has rebounded from his shoulder problems and could be Binghamton bound, hopefully soon.

Tommy Wilson has been really really good since a shaky start to the season. After giving up no runs in his last two starts, he gave up one tonight. His stuff might play up more in the bullpen when the time comes but he his short stint has been encouraging. If he makes the majors, be excited for all the biff references.

Columbia (15-25) 5, August (19-20) 5 Box Score

Mauricio is in a weird state where he’s holding his own and not looking silly but also has not taken off like crazy. He’ll get there and it is very important to remember that he’s just 18 and won’t turn 19 until the start of next season. Vientos hit a two-run homer, his third in that hitters death valley. He’s been hitting .260/.315/.440 in May so it looks like he’s starting to get into a rhythm. Moreno was recently demoted following a poor start in St. Lucie.

Szapucki’s stuff has been looking sharper since coming off the IL. He’s been working back from Tommy John Surgery and is still saving his bullets. James came in after him and has just not looked the same as the last few seasons. Mitchell has 32 strikeouts in 18.1 innings now. He’s a little old for the league but that many strikeouts is definitely noticeable. Moreno has still been a high walk, high strikeout arm.
