Cole Gordon trusted his defense in this game, and they delivered by not committing any fielding errors. Hopefully, Butto can bounce back from this start and finish the season strong. Colin Holdermann got the save for the Rumble Ponies by pitching a scoreless 7th inning.

A+: Hudson Valley Renegades (60-35) 6, Brooklyn Cyclones (35-58) 4 BOX SCORE

The Cyclone offense was productive on Saturday, scoring four runs on nine hits. Leading the offense for Brooklyn, Antoine Duplantis had three singles and a walk. Jose Peroza had a two-run shot into right center field, his third home run in five games against Hudson Valley this week. His long ball gave the Cyclones a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st.

Most of the action in Saturday’s Cyclones game occurred in the first inning, with Peroza’s home run leading the charge, as the Cyclones put four early runs on the board. Unfortunately, Luc Rennie gave up the lead by allowing five earned runs on two hits and four walks. Rennie gave up a grand slam to James Nelson, and shortly was removed from the game. Once Luc Rennie left the mound, Colby Morris and Hunter Parsons allowed zero earned runs across 4 2/3 innings, but the Cyclones offense could not rally to take advantage.
