Making his first start since reversing on his prior decision to retire, Andrew Church had a good first inning but was not effective after that allowing ten total hits in only 3.1 innings of work, five of which were for extra bases. Another recent addition to the Syracuse team, Louis Coleman, helped bail Church out of a jam in the fourth inning but allowed a two run home run to former Met Jordany Valdespin in the fifth inning.

Thompson and Barnes opened the game for Binghamton with back to back two out solo home runs in the first inning. After dominating the Florida State League, Tommy Wilson is finding the promotion to the (AA) Eastern League to be much tougher as he allowed seven plus base-runners to reach for the third consecutive game in a row without completing a fifth inning of work. He also allowed two more home runs which brings him up to an astounding seven in three (AA) starts. This is more than he’s allowed in the last two years combined pitching for St. Lucie, Brooklyn, and Cal State-Fullerton.

Brandon Nimmo (neck) began a rehab assignment last night and played the entire game at DH. He tripled in the bottom of the seventh inning and would scored on a two run home run by Carlos Cortes to give the St. Lucie Mets a 5-4 lead.

Nunez bounced back nicely from his previous start tossing five scoreless innings with only one hit allowed before running into trouble in the sixth inning. After allowing a two run home run to Welfrin Mateo, Nunez was pulled in favor of Darwin Ramos who would allow two more runs to score to put the Mets down 4-3. He would end up with the win though thanks to Cortes’ home run in the seventh and Zabaleta would shut down the Tarpons offense for the next two innings to lock down the save.

Top prospect Ronny Mauricio had himself a career day at the plate with three extra base hits for the first time of his career and scoring three times for only the second time in his young career. In the process, Mauricio extended his hitting streak to nine consecutive games while reaching base safely at least once in fifteen of his last sixteen games.
