Two batters later, Ritter would hit a solo shot for his 11th home run at Triple-A and his 25th home run overall on the year.

BOX SCORE

Jordan was the star on offense on Saturday. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second and a two-run single in the third. The 24-year-old has driven in nine runs in the last five games.

On Saturday, Hamel faced Portland for the second time in the last two months. Even though he didn’t have as many strikeouts as the 11 he had on July 5, he still went six innings or more for the eighth time this year and he did not allow a single extra-base hit (seven ground ball outs).

McLoughin followed that up with a strong outing of the bullpen. The 24-year-old right-hander has not allowed a run in five of his six appearances in August and it was the fifth time this year he has struck out four or more hitters in an appearance.

Later in the game, it was Lugo’s two-run triple in the seventh that ultimately ended up being the game-winning hit. The 21-year-old has six RBIs in the last three games. Even though Ovalles gave up a home run in his quality starts, he held Jupiter to only one other hit. The 20-year-old right-hander had his second-highest strikeout total of the year (high was 10 on June 2).

Florida Complex League

The FCL Mets (31-18) had their originally scheduled game against the FCL Nationals (23-25) canceled due to rain. The two teams were able to finish a postponed game from August 4 with the Mets taking the win, 5-4.

Ronald Hernandez went 2-for-3 in the game  with two runs scored and he had a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. They did have to rally from a 4-3 deficit in the fifth, but they were able to get a solo home run from Carlos Oviedo (3rd of the year) and ultimately the game-winning single from Kellum Clark in the sixth. With the win, the Mets clinch home-field for their one-game semifinal playoff on Thursday and they clinched the best record in the FCL.
