AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (37-41) vs. Syracuse Mets (34-44)

The Mets’ game against the RailRiders was postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up at a to-be-announced later date.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (37-37) 4, Hartford Yard Goats (32-40) 1  Box Score

  • Jose Peroza DH: 1-for-2, R, 2B, BB, K, .291/.386/.514
  • Augustin Ruiz RF: 1-for-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K, .193/.295/.374
  • Wyatt Young SS: 1-for-3, R, BB, .219/.333/.281

The Rumble Ponies only had four hits in Sunday’s game but were helped out by some poor defense and a clutch two-run double by Ruiz in the fourth inning. Peroza’s .900 OPS ranks seventh in the Eastern League and second on the team behind Matt Rudick.

Moreno continued his hot stretch with five innings of one-run ball in Sunday’s start. Over his last five starts, Moreno has given up just five earned runs in 27 innings. Acosta and Núñez combined to pitch four perfect innings in relief. After walking more than one batter per inning with Triple-A Syracuse, Núñez has a 13:2 K:BB ratio over 10 innings since his demotion to Double-A.

A+: Jersey Shore BlueClaws (40-33) 11, Brooklyn Cyclones (33-40) 6  Box Score

  • Abraham Almonte DH: 2-for-3, 3 R, HR, RBI, BB, .353/.538/.529
  • William Lugo SS: 2-for-4, R, 2B, .201/.280/.353
  • Stanley Consuegra RF: 1-for-3, R, HR, 3 RBI, 2 K, .243/.301/.480

The Cyclones only had seven hits and went just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position, but five of those hits went for extra bases and so they still managed to push across six runs. Almonte had a big game, homering and reaching base three times, in his seventh rehab game with the Cyclones. Consuegra homered for the second time in four games since his return from his own rehab stint.

The Cyclones’ pitching staff got off to a rough start in Sunday’s game, with Suarez giving up four runs in the second inning, but then settled in for a while and only gave up one more run until the ninth. The roof came caving in during the ninth inning though, as three runs scored and the lead was lost before even a single out could be recorded. Ramos saw his ERA balloon from 1.54 to 2.75 with the five-run performance. Hardy gave up his first earned run with the Cyclones this season.
