After a walk-off hit on Tuesday, Ritter kept the success going on Wednesday with an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth. He extended his hit streak to eight games as he continued his strong approach at the plate over the last week.

Two innings later, Meyer came to the plate and hit a grand slam that gave Syracuse a momentary lead, 6-5.

Wednesday brought about the Triple-A debuts of Young and McIlwain. Young ended up having a pair of hits and got the scoring underway with an RBI single in the third.

It was an up-and-down afternoon for Vasil. On the one hand, he was able to strikeout Trevor Story, who was on a rehab assignment, and it was the first time he struck out seven or more in a start since he was at Double-A back on May 11. However, the four walks he had were a season-high, and he made a key mistake in the third when he allowed a three-run home run (allowed all four of his runs in the fourth).

Double-A

New Hampshire Fishercats (44-50) 3, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (48-49) 1

BOX SCORE

The Rumble Ponies picked up their only run of the game on a solo home run by Gil in the bottom of the fifth, his first at the Double-A level. There was another first on Wednesday as Acuña picked up his first hit in the Mets organization with a leadoff single in the fourth.

As for Schwartz, he has continued to hit the ball well at the plate since returning from his rehab assignment last week.

Wednesday was Tidwell’s Double-A debut. The 22-year-old right-hander escaped damage in the first three innings, but all three runs he allowed came in the fourth. The four walks he allowed were tied for the second-most in any outing this year. As for Juarez, the left-hander had his fifth consecutive scoreless outing.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (49-48) 5, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (51-46) 3

In his second game with the Cyclones, Reimer had a big day at the plate. He started the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the fourth and then hit a two-run home run in the sixth to cap the day’s scoring.

The other two runs came around to score on an Estep single in the fourth. The 9th Round pick in last year’s draft has four RBIs in his last five games.

In his third start with the Cyclones, Ventura ended up having reaching a season-high for innings pitched in a start and strikeouts in a start. After allowing a two-run single in the fifth, the 23-year-old retired eight of the last nine batters that he faced. He has gone at least five innings in each of his three starts at High-A.

Low-A

Daytona Tortugas (42-53) 6, St. Lucie Mets (33-64) 1

BOX SCORE

The Mets were held to three hits in Wednesday’s loss, but one of those hits was the first of Pregent’s professional career. In his second pro game, the 10th Round pick in this year’s MLB Draft hit a solo shot in the top of the fifth.

  • RHP Douglas Orellana (3-3, 4.41): 3 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 K (50 of 79 pitches for strikes)

The Tortugas scored four of their six runs in the first three innings against Orellana. The 21-year-old right-hander has allowed 12 runs over his last 15 innings pitched (four starts).

Florida Complex League

FCL Marlins (22-17) 7, FCL Mets (24-14) 1

BOX SCORE

The FCL Mets did not have a single extra-base hit on Wednesday, with the only run coming around to score on a single by Fanas in the sixth.

The six pitchers that came in for the Mets had a combined 11 strikeouts and 6 walks. Uceta was making his first appearance at the FCL level on a rehab assignment and picked up a 1-2-3 inning. Ferrer has been good for most of the year, but the 19-year-old allowed a season-high five earned runs and three extra-base hits (one home run).
