Las Vegas (28-39) 7, Colorado Springs (34-30) 5, 10 innings Box

Las Vegas was held scoreless until the seventh inning, until a leadoff homer off the bat of Zach Borenstein (15th) and a three-run double from pinch-hitter Johnny Monell gave the 51s a 4-3 lead.

With the club up a run in the ninth, Drew Smith blew the save giving up a leadoff home run to Christian Bethancourt (his second of the game).

The 51s came back in the top half of the tenth, scoring three runs including a two-run double by Colton Plaia.

Altoona (32-28) 9, Binghamton (34-31) 2 Box

  • Peter Alonso 1B: 1-for-4, 2B, SO, R, .314/.440/.573
  • Jeff McNeil 2B: 1-for-4, .327/.402/.626
  • Tomas Nido C: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI, .225/.267/.324 (combined minor league totals)
  • Levi Michael SS: 2-for-3, 3B, HR, BB, RBI, R, .284/.353/.462

The Rumble Ponies were held scoreless until the sixth, when shortstop Levi Michael led off the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run (6th) to right. Tomas Nido singled in Peter Alonso, who doubled to left, and that would be all the runs Binghamton would score in the early morning game.

The big news after the contest – which was first reported by MMO’s Logan Barer – was Peter Alonso and Jeff McNeil being promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas. McNeil and Alonso were second and third in the Eastern League in OPS, behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Alonso led the Eastern League in home runs with 15, while McNeil was second with 14.

  • RHP Marcos Molina (1-8, 6.06 ERA, combined minor league totals): 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 SO, BB

  • LHP Daniel Zamora (1-1, 3.28 ERA): 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 SO, BB

The struggles continue for Marcos Molina, who hasn’t been able to put together a string of successful outings yet this season. Three more runs came around to score in the fifth off two singles. This was the fourth time this season that Molina allowed nine hits in a start.
