Las Vegas 8 (9-10), Tacoma 1 F/5 Box Score

Brandon Nimmo was moved up to the leadoff spot and he rewarded Wally Backman for doing so with three hits and three RBI. He was a perfect 3 for 3 on the night while scoring two runs and driving in all three runs with this bases clearing double. Sean Gilmartin pitched a complete game allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out five. He is now 2-1 with a 1.66 ERA on the year and has struck out 25 batters in 21.2 innings.

Matt Reynolds played third base and went 2 for 3 with a RBI and run scored while extending his hitting streak to eight games. For the season he is hitting .304/.385/.474 with four stolen bases and 14 runs scored. T.J. Rivera went 1 for 3 with a run scored and saw his batting average drop to .365 for the season. Following a game in which he hit his first AAA homer, Gavin Cecchini was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Charlotte 10, St. Lucie 3 (13-8) Box Score

St. Lucie was put in an early hole trailing 7-1 after the third inning and the had no success in the clutch, going 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Outfield prospect Wuilmer Becerra was the offensive star of the night, he reached base four times going 2 for 2 with two walks. He also hit his fourth double of the year and scored a run. He average is now up to .333 for the year after going 15 for 39 (.385) over his last ten games.

Amed Rosario cooled off a little going just 1 for 5 but still leads the Florida State League with 28 hits and 49 total bases. The young shortstop prospect is hitting .322/.351/.563 in 87 at bats to start the year.

Corey Oswalt was coming off two straight scoreless starts, though his result last night was much different giving up seven runs in four innings on ten hits. Reliever Tim Peterson allowed a run in two innings of work, the first he has given up in 10 innings this year.

Lexington 6, Columbia 5 (12-9) Box Score

It was a tough loss for the Fireflies who were two innings away from sweeping the Legends before reliever Seth Davis gave up three runs in the top of the 8th that relinquished a 5-3 lead. Columbia starter Thomas McIlraith was in the line for win after going six solid innings in which he allowed two earned runs and struck out nine.

The story of the night however, is the continued clutch hitting of third baseman David Thompson who went 1 for 4 with his second homer of the year and drove in two runs. He now leads all of baseball with 25 RBI after coming into the night trailing only big leaguers Bryce Harper and Robinson Cano. He is hitting a cool .464 with runners in scoring position.

Vinny Siena set the table again, going 2 for 4 with his eighth double and second triple. He also scored his 21st run (2nd in league) and has now reached base in all 21 games this year. He is also one of only four players in baseball with a on-base percentage above .500 with his sitting at .517 for the season.
