AAA: Rochester Red Wings (33-46) 7, Syracuse Mets (29-53) 6  Box Score

Syracuse’s offense pushed across six runs on eight hits in Sunday’s game, with the big hit being the three-run home run off the bat of Martin Cervenka in the fifth inning. Lee extended his on-base streak to eight games. His .447 OBP this season ranks fifth in Triple-A among qualified hitters.

Reyes continued a strong run of pitching with his start on Sunday. After allowing three runs or more in all but one of his first 14 appearances of the season, he has allowed one run or less in each of his last three starts. Unfortunately, the bullpen was unable to hold the 6-1 lead, as they combined to give up six runs over the final two frames. Cobb has struggled mightily in his return from Tommy John surgery and has given up multiple runs in each of his last two relief appearances.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (36-46) 5, Portland Sea Dogs (49-33) 0  Box Score

A huge afternoon from Rincon carried the Rumble Ponies’ offense to victory. Always known for his power, Rincon has taken his game to a new level since joining the Mets organization in July. His 1.119 OPS over the last 15 days leads the Double-A Northeast league. Jake Mangum had his 11-game hit streak and four-game multi-hit streak snapped with his 0-for-3 performance. Mark Vientos continues to be out after being removed from last Tuesday’s game. The reason previously given for his absence was the rather vague “health and safety protocols.”

Butto had mixed results in 12 starts with Brooklyn this season but has taken his game to a new level since his promotion to Binghamton. Tossing six innings of one-hit ball is just the latest in what has been a fantastic four-start run. Over those four starts, Butto has struck out 29 batters and walked just three in 23 innings pitched. Winans and Orze are two other pitchers who have excelled following their promotions to Binghamton.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (33-49) 5, Hudson Valley Renegades (53-31) 4  Box Score

The Cyclones had fallen behind 4-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but put together an impressive comeback in the final innings. The team’s two top prospects were integral to the completion of this comeback in the ninth. Mauricio tripled in the game-tying run and was immediately driven in on an Álvarez sacrifice fly. The triple was Mauricio’s 29th extra-base hit of the season, a total which ties his previous career-high from 2019 and a total which he reached in 41 fewer games than in 2019.

Rennie was not dominant in Sunday’s game but generally kept the Cyclones in it for five innings. Montes de Oca gave up an unearned run in his relief appearance but has generally been effectively wild this year. The righty flamethrower has a 35:24 K:BB ratio in 27 innings pitched. Metoyer has been an under-the-radar relief prospect this season, but performance warrants some attention. His .123 average against, 12.88 K/9, and 66.7% GB% are all very promising.

A: St. Lucie Mets (44-37) 2, Palm Beach Cardinals (25-54) 1  Box Score

It was a big rehab day for the St. Lucie Mets on Sunday, as both Martinez and Thompson were making their rehab debuts after missing significant time with injury. Both played three innings in the field and received two plate appearances, with Thompson’s first-inning home run giving the team an early lead. After the Cardinals tied the game in the third, a Branden Fryman double in the sixth gave the Mets another one-run lead that would not be relinquished.

Chacin had another strong start on Sunday. He has now given up just three total runs through three starts with St. Lucie. Tavarez has a 14.81 K/9 on the season but continues to be incredibly wild coming out of the bullpen. Montas has gone 11 straight appearances without giving up a run, a stretch dating back to June 17.
