AAA: Buffalo Bisons (57-51) 3, Syracuse Mets (48-61) 1 Box Score

Syracuse scored a run on eight hits as they fell to the Buffalo Bisons.

Francisco Álvarez drove in the Mets’ lone run with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Alvarez is now slashing .190/.346/.417 with Syracuse.

Brett Baty added a hit for a third consecutive game. He’s now 5-for-15 in his first four games in Triple-A.

Jose Butto had an up-and-down debut with Syracuse allowing three runs over five innings in a losing effort. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out two while only issuing one walk.

Trey Cobb, Stephen Nogosek, and Alex Claudio combined to pitch four scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep the game in striking distance.

AA: Altoona Curve (51-55) 0, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (40-65) 2 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies scored two runs on seven hits in a 2-0 shut-out victory over the Altoona Curve.

Jeremy Vasquez drove in Brandon McIlwain to open the scoring in the second inning. McIlwain would also score Binghamton’s second run on a Nic Gaddis sacrifice fly in the sixth — Gaddis’ first RBI in Double-A.

Rowdey Jordan also picked up his first extra-base hit in Binghamton with a triple in the seventh inning. Jordan is 3-for-16 to start his tenure in Double-A.

Four different pitchers combined to shut out the Curve. Kyle Wilson threw 2.1 innings in his debut with Binghamton allowing just two hits while punching out three. Jose Chacin earned his first win with the Rumble Ponies in a bulk role. The right-hander struck out seven in four innings while allowing just four hits.

Jordan Yamamoto earned his second save of the year pitching the final two innings to seal the Rumble Ponies’ victory.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (53-53) 1, Wilmington Blue Rocks (54-51) 7, Box Score

The Cyclones managed just a run on four hits as they fell 7-1 to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Alex Ramirez drove in William Lugo with a two-out single in the third inning to open the scoring. Ramirez has slowed down in August, going 7-for-38, but now has hits in four straight contests. Lugo is 3-for-15 with a pair of doubles in his first four games since his callup from St. Lucie.

Junior Santos struggled Friday allowing five runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings. Justin Courtney couldn’t slow down the Blue Rocks out of the bullpen, allowing another two runs on a hit and three walks.

A: St. Lucie Mets (61-43) 11, Clearwater Threshers (49-56) 8,  Box Score

The Mets exploded for 11 runs on 14 hits as they downed the Clearwater Threshers.

Junior Tilien tied the game 8-8 in the top of the ninth with his 12th home run of the year. Eduardo Salazar would then give St. Lucie the lead with a three-run shot later in the inning, his first in High-A.

Omar De Los Santos opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning. Carlos Dominguez would also homer in the fourth to highlight a 4-for-5 night. Dominguez is now 13-for-37 with a pair of long balls in August.

Layonel Ovalles struggled in his St. Lucie debut allowing four runs on six hits in three innings. Ovalles went 1-2 with a 2.76 ERA in 29.1 innings in the FCL. Kolby Kubichek also made his debut and earned the victory thanks to the Mets’ ninth-inning comeback. Kubichek, an 18th-round pick in 2021, had been excellent in the FCL with a 1.15 ERA in 15.2 innings.

Benito Garcia pitched a clean ninth inning to earn his first save of the year.

Florida Complex League: FCL Mets (28-19) 0, FCL Cardinals (20-25) 2 Box Score

Lantigua had two of the Mets’ three hits as they were shut out 2-0 by the Cardinals.

Dominican Summer League: DSL Cubs Red (20-32) 1, DSL Mets 1 (26-24) 0 Box Score

  • RHP Juan Oramas: (L, 0-5) 5.0 IP, ER, 5 H, 3 K, 4.08 ERA

Oramas was stuck with the loss despite a solid effort. The 17-year-old right-hander has a 4.08 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP in 35.1 innings this season.

The Mets scored three runs on four hits as they held on for a one-run victory in a rain-shortened game.
