AAA: Syracuse Mets (13-35) 9, Rochester Red Wings (20-29) 5 Box Score

Brandon Nimmo played nine innings in center field during a rehab outing with Syracuse, and he led off Tuesday night’s game with a walk. Tomas Nido, also on rehab assignment, followed Nimmo with a single. Right fielder Khalil Lee drove in Nimmo with a sacrifice fly, and Brandon Drury hit a two-run home run to give Syracuse a 3-0 lead.

Mason Williams hit a one-out double, and Wilfredo Tovar hit a two-out, two-run home run to extend Syracuse’s lead to five. Lee led off the third with a single, but then was caught stealing second base. Drury hit a one-out double in the third, then came around to score on a Cheslor Cuthbert double. In the fifth, Williams doubled home Drury to plate another Syracuse run. 

Jeurys Familia begin his rehab appearance with Syracuse and sat at 94-95 mph with his sinker in a perfect first inning for the Mets on Tuesday. Vance Worley entered in the second to pitch the bulk of the innings, and he earned the win despite giving up five earned runs on eight hits over six innings. Nick Tropeano closed out the game for Syracuse with two scoreless innings.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (16-31) 5, Richmond Flying Squirrels (26-23) 2

Box Score

Mark Vientos reached base four times to continue his hot streak, and Binghamton posted four runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Vientos led off the second with a single, and came around to score with two other Rumble Ponies on a Yoel Romero double. Romero scored later in the inning on a Jake Mangum single.

Troy Miller struck out eight over five innings, and the righty scattered six hits and two runs to earn the win. In the second, Miller gave up a leadoff double and allowed the runner to score on a sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Heliot Ramos hit a two-out triple off Miller, and Ramos scored on a throwing error by Binghamton shortstop Luis Carpio. Tom Hackimer and Andrew Mitchell combined for four scoreless innings to close out Tuesday’s game. 

A+: Aberdeen IronBirds (26-21) 7, Brooklyn Cyclones (16-30) 3 Box Score

Brett Baty collected three hits to continue his strong season with Brooklyn. Ronny Mauricio led off the fourth inning with a single, and he advanced to second on a Baty groundout. After Francisco Alvarez walked, Luke Ritter hit a three-run home run to get Brooklyn on the board. After Ritter’s home run, Aberdeen pitching quieted the Brooklyn lineup for the rest of the night. 

Aberdeen scored five against Alec Kisena in his three innings of work. The Brooklyn starter gave up a leadoff double to start the first, then a single scored the first IronBirds run of the game. Kisena gave up another three runs on three extra-base hits in the second, and a fifth Aberdeen run scored on a Brooklyn error in the third.

Josh Hejka contributed three scoreless innings, and RHP Evy Ruibal gave up two runs on a hit and a walk in the seventh inning. Andrew Edwards turned in a perfect eighth inning. 

A-: St. Lucie Mets (26-22), Clearwater Threshers (25-23) PPD

Tuesday’s St. Lucie game against Clearwater was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.

Rookie: FCL Mets (1-1) 7, FCL Marlins (0-1) 6 Box Score

After being held scoreless through the first six innings of Tuesday’s game, the FCL Mets got on the board with a breakout five-run seventh inning. A hit batsman and two singles loaded the bases, then a Carlos Dominguez walk forced home the first Mets run of the day. Albert Suarez drove in two more runs with a double. Dominguez came around to score on a sacrifice fly, and Suarez scored a batter later after a fielding error by the Marlins. Trailing by one in the ninth, the Mets plated two in the top of the frame to take the lead.

Jace Beck pitched three scoreless innings to start the game, then issued a leadoff walk in the fourth. After recording two outs, Beck gave up a double and surrendered his only earned run in five innings of work. Christopher Vasquez relieved Beck in the sixth inning, and he retired only batter out of the six he faced.

After Vasquez gave up four runs, Ronny Rincones entered and got two-straight outs to end the sixth inning. Vasquez pitched a scoreless seventh, then gave up two in the eighth to cough up the Mets lead. After the Mets offense reclaimed the lead in the ninth, Miguel Alfonseca closed the door.
