We might have to start calling these updates the Jett Williams recap, as he continues to dominate for the Brooklyn Cyclones at only 19 years old.

Triple-A

Buffalo Bisons (59-61) 14, Syracuse Mets (50-69) 2

BOX SCORE

The Syracuse offense struck out 13 times in Wednesday’s loss, and the only two runs that scored came on a Ritter home run in the bottom of the first. It was his fourth home run in the last five games and his 27th of the year in the Mets system. However, he did leave the game in the eighth with an apparent injury after a swing.

Mauricio did have another multi-hit game and he extended his on-base streak to 16 games in the process. He is on a current five-game hit streak.

  • RHP Justin Jarvis (0-4, 7.96 ERA): 3 2/3 IP, 5 R (2 ER), 5 H, 4 BB, 5 K (54 of 90 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Nate Lavender (3.44): 1 IP, 1 ER, 3 H

The Buffalo offense scored at least one run in each of the final four innings against Syracuse pitching. Jarvis ended up having four walks, which was the most he has had in any of his four outings since joining the Mets organization. That being said, he did have a new high with Syracuse regarding strikeouts in an outing (5).

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (59-56) 4, New Hampshire FisherCats (53-60) 2

BOX SCORE

Acuña has had three hits in a game twice over the last five contests and he drew a key walk in the top of the second to get the scoring started for Binghamton. The scoring was capped by Jackson in the ninth inning when he hit a solo home run for his second home run of the series.

  • RHP Tyler Stuart (3-2, 3.60): 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 6 K (47 of 70 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Daniel Juarez (2.37): 1 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Junior Santos (6.15, 1st save): 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, K

Stuart’s great 2023 season continued on Wednesday as he allowed two hits (one extra-base hit) in six innings. Three of his six strikeouts came in the final two innings of his outing. Stuart’s 2.20 ERA for the season leads Minor League Baseball.

Juarez had a strong relief outing and has not allowed a run in five of his six appearances this month.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (57-58) 12, Asheville Tourists (46-65) 5

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones’ offense has hit the ball well in the first two games out in Asheville, as they have scored a total of 21 runs in 18 innings. On Wednesday, 8 of the 9 players in the lineup recorded at least one hit (Rhylan Thomas had 4 walks).

Williams was once again the spark at the top of the lineup as he had three hits, a walk that led to the game’s first run, a two-run single in the eighth, and a bases-clearing double in the ninth. The 19-year-old has a 10-game hit streak and has had at least one walk in four consecutive games. He now has 40 stolen bases on the season.

Ramírez had an RBI double for the game’s first run and he tied the game at four with a base hit in the fifth. There was some Cyclones history on Wednesday as Consuegra’s go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth gave him the most home runs in Cyclones history (23).

  • LHP Felipe De La Cruz (1-0, 4.50): 6 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 5 H, 4 BB, 6 K (51 of 94 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Benito Garcia (1.36, 2nd save): 3 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 K (29 of 40 pitches for strikes)

On Wednesday, De La Cruz was making his first start at the High-A level. The third inning was where he ran into problems as a single, two walks, and a fielding error put Asheville ahead. The Tourists would add on another run in that inning. Even though De La Cruz did have four walks, he was able to record six strikeouts, and three of the last six batters he faced were retired via the strikeout.

Low-A

The St. Lucie Mets (40-74) had their game against the Dunedin Blue Jays (53-62) suspended due to rain in the top of the second inning. They will resume the game on Thursday before playing the originally scheduled contest. Before the suspension, Kellum Clark had a single in the second inning as the 20th-round pick in this year’s MLB Draft picked up his first hit at the Low-A level.
