Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (34-25) 3, Syracuse (30-31) 1   Box Score

The Mets scored their only run in the second on an RBI double by Travis Taijeron, who is the team’s best qualified hitter by OPS. Tejada has cooled off a little, but is still off to a very strong start as he looks to make his way back to the majors, still 29 years old. Guillorme has been classic Guillorme with Syracuse, and is batting .387 with a .525 OBP in his last 10 games. Alcantara, who was having a decent season with Binghamton, has been tearing it up in 18 games in Syracuse thus far.

Lockett wasn’t particularly dominant, striking out a grand total of zero in seven innings, but he threw strikes and got the job done with a solid outing. He has only five strikeouts in 19 innings with Syracuse, as he works his way back from a delayed start to his Mets career. Bashlor walked the first hitter in the eighth, but Rene Rivera throwing out a runner trying to steal helped him throw a scoreless frame.

Binghamton (32-24) 1, Hartford (35-25) 0   Box Score

The only run for either team came in the top of the fourth inning, when Barrett Barnes scored on a fielding error by the third baseman on a ball hit by Paez. Paez collected two of the Rumble Ponies’ four hits on the day. Thompson has hit well so far since his demotion to Binghamton. Fermin got the start at short, his first start and only third game of the year, and collected his first hit of the season.

  • LHP Anthony Kay (W, 7-3, 1.49 ERA): 5.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K
  • RHP Adonis Uceta (3-2, 1.65 ERA): 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Ryley Gilliam (3-0, 4.34 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K
  • RHP Matt Blackham (2-1, 2.49 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

After a shaky start last time out, Kay got right back on track with a scoreless outing, lowering his ERA to a pristine 1.49. He should be headed to Syracuse any day now at this point, as he has thoroughly dominated the competition in Double-A.

Uceta continued his quiet run of excellence, retiring all five batters he faced. Gilliam recorded his second straight hitless outing; outside of a couple blowups, he’s been continued his dominance from Brooklyn and St. Luce into Binghamton.

Blackham saved the one-run game with a perfect ninth, recording two strikeouts to continue his very strong season as well. He has struck out 39 batters in 25.1 innings this year.

St. Lucie vs. Lakeland was suspended due to rain with the Mets down 5-2 in the third inning.

Game one of the doubleheader between Columbia and Hickory was suspended due to rain, with the game tied 0-0 in the second inning. Game two was postponed.

DSL Mets1 (3-3) 12, DSL Angels (4-2) 11   Box Score

The DSL Mets1 had an offensive outburst, scoring 12 runs including a run in the bottom of the ninth to tie it and three in the bottom of the tenth to walk it off. They walked a staggering 14 times. Castillo got on base all six times in his second career professional game.

Ventura fared better in his second professional start than in his ugly first one. Sanchez had easily the best outing of any pitcher in the game, and has started his professional career with 8.1 scoreless innings. The back end of the bullpen was ugly though, with three pitchers each giving up three runs.

DSL Mets2 (5-2) 9, DSL Cubs2 (3-4) 5   Box Score

It was a parade of hits for the DSL Mets2, with the top eight hitters in the lineup all recording at least one hit. Berbesi led the attack with four hits of his own.

Colina pitched three solid innings, although it was not quite as impressive as his first performance in which he struck out nine in five innings. Marinez provided some length as his second professional outing went much better than his first.
