- C Nick Meyer 1 for 3, 2 RBI, BB, SO, .333/.421/.333
Syracuse picked up the win tonight as they went 3-for-10 with RISP and the Mets fourth round pick in 2015 David Thompson hit a home run as well. Syracuse also had three stolen bases in the winning effort.
- RHP Jerad Eickhoff (W, 2-0) 6 IP, 5 J, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 6.00 ERA
- RHP Stephen Nogosek (S, 2) 3 IP, H, 0 R, 5 K, 1.93 ERA
Eickhoff and Nogosek gave Syracuse a very nice combined outing tonight as they got the win. Nogosek picked up the save and continued his great start to the 2021 season. He got Ruben Tejada to ground out to end the game. Nogosek has now given up only one run in his six appearances this season.
Right-handed reliever Marcel Renteria was promoted to Syracuse before the game following seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts for Double-A Binghamton.
Erie SeaWolves 11 (11-4), Binghamton Rumble Ponies 1 (1-13) Box Score
- 3B Mark Vientos 2 for 4, SO, .204/.255/.367
- DH Yoel Romero 1 for 3, RBI, BB, SO, .378/.500/.486
Binghamton lost tonight as they left nine men on base and didn’t have an extra base hit. Vientos continued to hit the ball well his last couple games as he is now 5- for-his-last-10 in the last three games.
- RHP Cole Gordon 2.2 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 3 k, 4.91 ERA
Gordon, the Mets 32nd round pick in 2019, was the Rumble Ponies best pitcher of the night and his only blemish was giving up a solo home run to Tigers’ No. 2 prospect Riley Greene. He would hit another solo home run off Rumble Ponies reliever Joseph Zanghi later in the game.
Hudson Valley Renegades 6 (8-7), Brooklyn Cyclones 1 (5-9) Box Score
- SS Ronny Mauricio 1 for 4, 3 SO, .315/.351/.630
- DH Brett Baty 0 for 4, 2 SO, .386/.481/.500
The Cyclones lost tonight as they went 1-for-8 with RISP and only had three total hits on the night. Antoine Duplantis and Blake Tiberi both reached base twice, while catcher Hayden Senger scored the Cyclones only run after hitting a triple.
Our own was at the game and got the chance to interview Baty:
Got to interview with Mets number four prospect Brett Baty after tonight’s game. He’s found early success at the High-A level mainly due to his strike-zone knowledge. Great down to earth kid and great addition to this Mets organization! #Mets #MetsTwitter #MLB #NYM @Mets_Minors pic.twitter.com/M6C73Ob5Sn

- RHP Josh Hejka 3 IP, 0 H, o BB, 2 K, 7.04 ERA
Vilera bounced back after two disastrous outings to start the season, he allowed 11 runs in seven innings to begin 2021. The submarining Hejka tossed three perfect innings of relief. Hejka wrote a piece for us last month about gearing up for the season.
St. Lucie Mets 7 (11-4), Palm Beach Cardinals 0 (5-10) Box Score
- C Francisco Alvarez 2 for 4, 2B, R, RBI, BB, .459/.580/.649

St. Lucie collected 10 hits tonight in their 7-0 win to support Jacob deGrom. Alvarez continued to rake as he added two hits of his own, one being a double to the wall. Zach Ashford has been having a great season at the plate as well as he provided three hits of his own tonight raising his average to .356. St. Lucie had two stolen bases, one by Ranfy Adon and on by leadoff hitter Tanner Murphy, both good their fourth on the season.
I’m going to be thinking about these SL last night from deGrom for a good bit of time.

- RHP Jacob deGrom 3 IP, 0 H, o BB, 8 K, 0.00 ERA
- RHP Justin Lasko (W, 2-0) 5 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K, 2.40 ERA
Jacob deGrom had his first rehab start on Thursday and looked like himself. He sat around 100 mph on his fastball and topped out at 102 mph. DeGrom finished his outing just like you thought he would, striking out six straight. Eight of his nine outs came via the strikeout and he kept throwing in the bullpen after three innings under the watchful eye of Mets pitching coach Jeremy Hefner.
DeGrom bought the team a pre-game of meal of Chick-fil-A.
Justin Lasko took over in the fourth as he threw five scoreless of his own to keep it going for the St. Lucie arms. The 30th round pick in 2019 continues to show promising signs and lowers his ERA to 2.40.
Right-handed pitcher Garrison Bryant was placed on the injured list with a torn oblique. Right-handers Hunter Parsons and Colby Morris were both promoted to Brooklyn. With the roster space, the Mets added 21-year-old hard throw Sammy Tavarez.
