Lehigh (23-19) 6, Syracuse (24-20) 4 Box Score

A depleted Syracuse roster managed just six baserunners in the game. Two of the four hits though were home runs by Liriano and Taijeron. Taijeron has 125 plate appearances this season. He has a walk, strikeout, or home run in 64.8% of them.

Lee continues to struggle. The former top prospect has seemingly just been a warm body for Syracuse. His WHIP is 1.69 and unfortunately, the Mets don’t play in Vegas anymore. Hanhold has given up two runs in his past seven outings (spanning nine innings). His three run blowup at the end of April has made his numbers looks worse than they really are. Peterson had not allowed a run in his past five outings prior to last night.

Bowie (17-28) 2, Binghamton (25-16) 1 Box Score

Carpio is still adjusting to life in Binghamton. He has one hit over his last three games as opposed to his previous hot streak in St. Lucie. He’s not overmatched though and has shown good plate discipline. Patrick Mazeika continues his strong offensive season. With him, it will forever be about his glove.

Gonzalez forever seems to be an enigma for me. He always puts up really good numbers but his stuff has never seemed to do it for me. The results are there though and until they stop showing up, I should just keep my mouth shut and just keep watching him. McGeorge has been in the extended relief role his last three outings and has not given up a run yet. I’m back on the hype train.

Dunedin (26-19) 11, St. Lucie (23-22) 5 Box Score

Cortes has been hitting .400 over his last ten games. His strikeout-to-walk raito is 4-to-6 which is a good sign to see. He’s hitting a very solid .323/.378/.523 in May. Nice month for the 2018 third round pick. Rodriguez continues to get on base but has not shown much power.

Smith is one of my favorite pitchers in the system largely due to his high spin slider. He had troubles with his command yesterday though and only lasted three innings. For someone without plus velocity, he still has struck out more than one batter per inning. Cavallaro and Renteria had good nights though. Both are recently converted relievers. Renteria has a really bad apperance in his box score that makes his ERA look much worse. In reality, he’s done a better job of getting his strikeouts.

Greenville (18-27) 4, Columbia (18-28) 3 Box Score

Mauricio has hit .300 over his last ten games. He’s driving the ball more recently and seems to be getting better. As it, he has been very solid for considering the context surrounding him. Moreno homered but left early. After struggling in St. Lucie, he’s shown a lot more power in Columbia. Vientos is now up to a .778 OPS in May. He’s been on a tear recently and looks like he has started to figure out how to hit in Columbia.

After a rough couple of starts for Simeon Woods Richardson, he looked much better last night. The walks came back down. Last night looked more like the start that he had do begin the 2019 campaign. The last few ones make his numbers look worse than they really are. Kabaleta has a 22-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio. For someone with control problems earlier on his career, this is really encouraging.
