El Paso 17, Las Vegas 6 (13-12) Box Score

Rafael Montero ruined a perfect opportunity to pick up a win after being handed a 5-0 lead in the second that he relinquished by the third innings. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out four and was hitting 94 MPH with his fastball. Josh Edgin (in his 2nd rehab appearance for 51s) and Josh Smoker each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Edgin walked and struck out one, he has now struck out eight and allowed just two hits in 6.1 rehab innings.

The offense was led by Ty Kelly (3 for 4, RBI, R) who is now leading the Pacific Coast League with his .421 average. Brandon Nimmo went 2 for 5 with a run driven in, he is now 11 for 24 with seven RBI over his last six games. Gavin Cecchini (1 for 3, R, BB) extended his hitting streak to seven games and got his average up to .300 for the first time this year. Travis Taijeron (1 for 4, 3 K’s) and T.J. Rivera (1 for 5, RBI) extended their hitting streak to eleven and ten games respectively.

Binghamton (13-10) 6, Portland 3 F/7 Box Score

Tyler Pill made his third straight quality start and picked up his second straight win after going six innings allowing three runs on seven hits. The offense was led by Matt ObersteKyle Johnson and Maikis De La Cruz  who each had two hits on the night and knocked in a run. Dominic Smith was 1 for 3 with a walk and run scored. He has gone four straight games without striking out.

St. Lucie (14-12) at Bradenton was postponed.

Columbia (14-12) 8, Greensboro 3 Box Score

David Thompson broke out of a 0-10 slump with a 4 for 5 night that included his third home run of the season. He also scored three runs, hit his 10th double and knocked in four. The Fireflies third baseman now has 31 RBI which leads all of baseball. Dash Winningham also had four hits on the night, he knocked in two and scored one run.

Lefty P.J. Conlon moved to 4-0 on the season after throwing 6.1 solid innings that actually raised his ERA to 1.50. He gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five. The Mets 2015 draft pick reportedly has his best curveball of the year working, he also mixes in a high 80’s sinker and a plus changeup.
