High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (19-22) 7, Winston-Salem Dash (24-18) 2

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones only had five hits and were 1-for-15 as a team with runners in scoring position. However, they found a way to pick up the win. Narváez was a big help as he continued his rehab assignment. He had a two-run single in the second as part of a four-run inning for Brooklyn:

From a top prospect perspective, Parada picked up his 12th double of the year and his eighth in the month of May, which is tied for the second most in the South Atlantic League.

  • RHP Christian Scott (1-0, 3.07): 5 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 8 K (44 of 61 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Joshua Cornielly (5.06): 2 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, BB, 6 K (23 of 37 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Wilkin Ramos (2.08): 2 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, K, Balk, HBP (24 of 37 pitches for strikes)

Scott had one of his best games as a professional as he had a career-high eight strikeouts and the only hit he allowed was a two-out double in the top of the first. In five starts this month, the fifth-round pick in 2021 had 15 strikeouts to one walk in 14 2/3 innings of work. Cornielly had a season-high of his own as he had six strikeouts in relief of Scott.

For the fourth time in five starts this month, Ventura was able to go five innings in his start. While he did walk at least four batters in a start for the third time this year, the 22-year-old right-handed pitcher has thrown 21 innings this month (tied for fourth in the Florida State League).
