AAA: Syracuse Mets (23-41) 13, Rochester Red Wings (26-37) 8

Box Score

10 different Mets reached base in a 13-8 barnburner in favor of Syracuse on Friday night. The Syracuse bats came out on a roll as the Mets scored six runs in the first inning and all but one of the starting batters reached base in the inning.

Syracuse continued to let it pour on the the fifth with five runs thanks in part to back-to-back-to-back home runs from Albert Almora Jr., Travis Blankenhorn and Brandon Drury.

Although starter Vance Worley allowed 10 hits and five runs in five innings, the righty still earned the win to go 3-1 on the year. Relievers Andrew Mitchell and Tom Windle fared better in the game as they allowed a combined three runs in four innings.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (24-37) 7, Altoona Curve (33-28) 1

Box Score

A 4-run second was all Binghamton needed in a 7-1 win over Altoona. The Rumble Ponies totaled 13 hits on the night as four different batters had multi-hit nights in the lofty win. Manny Rodriguez and Hayden Senger both went 3-for-5 at the plate as Rodriguez plated two RBIs for the Ponies.

Mark Vientos impressed too as he homered twice in the ballgame for his 15th and 16th home runs of the year.

Reliever Josh Walker put together a fantastic relieving performance as he went deep going five innings and allowed no runs and just two hits on the way to earning the win. Starter Yeizo Campos also had a nice outing, allowing one run in the first before shutting out the Curve in the next three innings.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (21-41) 6, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (28-36) 1

Box Score

Even without a resting Francisco Álvarez, the Cyclones saw two different multi-hit batters on the way to a 6-1 win over the BlueClaws. Ronny Mauricio and Edgardo Fermin both went 2-for-4 on the night with an RBI each.

Joe Suozzi knocked in two RBIs with a 2-run homer in the second to get things started for Brooklyn. Mauricio and Fermin got their RBIs in the third with an RBI single and an RBI double, respectively.

Despite two nice performances from Mauricio and Fermin, starting pitcher Connor Grey stole the show as he had a no-hit bid until the ninth inning with one out. The righty’s bid was ended by a Jersey Shore inside-the-park home run to avoid the shutout.

Grey struck out nine hitters and walked just two batters before Michel Otanez took over and got the final two outs in the ninth.

A: Palm Beach Cardinals (25-38) 7, St. Lucie Mets (33-31) 0

Box Score

Unlike the Cyclones, the St. Lucie Mets found themselves avoiding the no-hitter as they didn’t get a hit until Matt Dyer’s triple in the ninth in a loss to Palm Beach. Despite only garnering one hit, the Mets still found ways to get one base as the Cardinals issued a walk, two hit-by-pitches and a throwing error.

The St. Lucie pitching staff also struggled on Friday night as it allowed seven runs on five hits. Starter Franklin Parra took the loss as he gave up three hits, three runs and issued four walks in his five innings on the mound.

The Mets allowed 12 walks all together compared to a combined four strikeouts.

Rookie: FCL Mets (7-5) 5, FCL Marlins (6-6) 4

Box Score

A 3-run eighth lifted the FCL Mets to a 5-4 win over the FCL Marlins. The victory was highlighted by an RBI double in the eighth by Junior Tilien to set up the ultimate winning-run later on in the inning via fielding error.

Tilien had the most impressive performance as he went 2-for-4 on the day.

Despite the win, the FCL Mets pitching staff had a fairly tough time on the mound as it allowed 10 hits. However, Jeffrey Colon struck out eight batters on the way to earning the win.

Foreign Rookie: DSL Rockies (4-0) 7, DSL Mets1 (2-2) 2

Box Score

There wasn’t much going for the DSL 1 squad as it only totaled two hits in a 7-2 loss to the DSL Rockies. The Mets’ lone two hits came from Kevin Villavicencio and Hector Rodriguez.

Much like the offense’s performance, pitching struggled in the loss as it gave up 11 hits. Lefty Kelvin Contreras took the loss as he allowed five runs on four hits.

Foreign Rookie: DSL Mets2 (3-1) 8, DSL Cardinals Red (2-2) 0

Box Score

While the DSL 1 squad struggled at the plate, the DSL 2 team thrived as seven different Mets garnered at least one hit in an 8-0 win.

The DSL 1 pitching staff allowed just three hits in the shutout win. Juan Veliz earned the win.
