Worcester Red Sox 7 (4-5) Syracuse Mets 4 (2-7) Box Score

The Syracuse Mets lost a close one to the Worcester Red Sox on Thursday. Worcester’s bullpen threw five no-hit innings and only gave up one walk. Brandon Nimmo played in a rehab game going 0-for-3 and playing center field for three innings. Thompson, the Mets 4th round pick in 2015, had a good game today as he hit a home run and had three RBIs to go along with it.  Jake Hager stayed hot with another home run as well, his 1.139 OPS leads the team.

The top active pitching prospect for the Mets struggled on Thursday night in his second start of the season. Right-hander Sam McWilliams gave up a two-run homer to Jaren Duran in his 1 1/3 innings of work. Right-hander Trey Cobb struck out one in a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.

Altoona Curve 9 (5-3), Binghamton Rumble Ponies 6 (0-8) Box Score

The Rumble Ponies are still seeking their first win as they lost their eighth in a row. The Rumble Ponies went 4-for-16 with RISP and left 11 men on base. Shortstop Yoel Romero was on base four times in the game with two hits and two walks. Third base prospect Mark Vientos had the night off.

Mitchell now has six scoreless innings this season with seven strikeouts. The rest of the Binghamton bullpen allowed three runs in the ninth and 10th innings.

Greenville Drive 8 (3-6), Brooklyn Cyclones 2 (4-4) Box Score

The Cyclones lost another as they went 0-for-6 with RISP and left eight people on base. Center fielder Jake Mangum hit his first career home run, a two-run shot in the eighth inning. Baty has now reached base safely in all seven games this season and a hit in all but one.

Before the game, Ronny Mauricio it was announced that Cyclones shortstop Ronny Mauricio was named the first ever High-A East Player of the Week. Mauricio had the night off.

Right-hander Eric Orze, Josh Hejka, and Michel Otanez all allowed at least one run in their appearance out of the pen. The good news from the Cyclones pitching staff is they walked only one and struck out 12.

Daytona Tortugas 15 (5-3), St. Lucie Mets 2 (5-3) Game 1 Box Score

St. Lucie got blown out today in the first game of their doubleheader today. The first game was to complete a suspended game from Wednesday night.

Before the game, Mets top outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong was put on the 7-day injured list. St. Lucie Mets broadcaster Adam MacDonald said it’s an issue with his throwing shoulder after a collision the previous night.

Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez left the game after a collision at the plate. Thankfully, it’s said to be nothing more than a few minor bruises. The broadcast also said that Álvarez bought the entire team lunch at Chick-fil-A earlier in the day.

The 23-year-old Taveras has not allowed a run in 4 2/3 innings this season out of the St. Lucie bullpen. Left-hander Franklin Parra gave up 10 earned runs in the game.

St. Lucie Mets 2 (6-3), Daytona Tortugas 0 (5-4) Game 2 Box Score

St. Lucie went into extra innings in their second game on Thursday against the Tortugas.  St. Lucie rallied late for two runs in the eighth to split the doubleheader today.

St. Lucie’s pitching bounced back big time in Game 2 as they threw eight scoreless innings against the Tortugas. The 19-year-old Junior Santos shined in his second start of the season. Hard throwing Reyson Santos closed it out with a perfect eighth inning to secure his third save.
