The 51s offense was silenced on the night by former big league pitcher Jeremy Guthrie with the only offensive bright spot being Dilson Herrera who went 2 for 3 with his fourth home run of the season. Ty Kelly went 1 for 4 while he continues to lead the minors in average, now sitting at .418.

Brandon Nimmo went 0 for 3 with a walk, sac bunt and had his third outfield assist of the year from center field. In case you missed it, Gavin Cecchini was placed on the 7-day disabled list on Tuesday night with a sore back.

Duane Below made the start going seven innings allowing two runs on five hits and struck out five. Erik Goeddel continued his miserable season by giving up one run and recording only one out. He now has a 6.97 ERA and opponents are batting .351 against him.

Reading 9, Binghamton (14-16) 6 Box Score

Dominic Smith pinch hit with a chance to give the B-Mets a lead in the eight inning and narrowly missed inning a grand slam that instead went for a sac fly. Matt Oberste hit a grand slam earlier in the inning, his second home run of the season. Maikis De La Cruz went 2 for 4 with a double, walk and scored two runs.

Knuckleballer Mickey Jannis continued his recent struggles with command walking four batters in five innings and allowed a season high seven runs. Over his last 23.2 innings he has issued 19 walks. Relief prospect Luis Mateo threw a perfect sixth inning with two strikeouts and lowered his season ERA to 2.30 with a 1.40 WHIP.

St. Lucie (18-14) 5, Jupiter 2 Box Score

With the winning run on second base in the top of the ninth with nobody out, Mets top prospect Amed Rosario smacked a double to right field that scored two runs. Rosario is currently hitting .328/.376/.531 with 23 RBI which is tied for the second most in the Florida State League.

Wuilmer Becerra would add an insurance run on a single, his third hit of the night that raised his season average to .415. He now has the second best average in the minors trailing only Ty Kelly of the 51s.

Starter Corey Oswalt pitched six innings of two-run ball on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Reliever Tim Peterson picked up his first win of the season with two scoreless innings in which he struck out three. He now has a 0.63 ERA and has 24 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.
