DOUBLE-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (24-27) 10, Reading Fightin Phils (20-31) 8 

BOX SCORE

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies won 10-8 in a back-and-forth slugfest against the Reading Fightin Phils Tuesday night. The two teams combined for 27 hits. Every Binghamton player recorded a hit in the contest.

The Rumble Ponies got off to a quick start in the first inning when the second batter of the game, Rowdey Jordan, clubbed a two-run shot, his fourth of the year. Jordan added an RBI two-base knock in the sixth inning and finished the contest 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and scoring three runs. The 24-year-old recorded his third multi-hit game in his last four games. During that stretch, he slashed 6-for-15 with one homer, three runs, and five walks.

In the third inning, Luke Ritter smoked a triple off the right field wall to drive in a run and tie the game at 3-3. Outfielder Brandon McIlwain followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to put Binghamton up 4-3. Ritter continued his hot hitting when he came up to bat with the Ponies up 7-6 in the seventh inning. With runners on base and two outs, he launched his tenth homer of the year, a three-run jack, and extended Binghamton’s lead to 10-6. The 26-year-old, in his last ten contests, has recorded five multi-hit games. He’s batting .325 (13-for-40) with seven homers, 14 runs batted in, and four walks during that span.

The 24-year-old Rudick extended his hit streak to six games. He finished 1-for-4 with two runs scored and swiped his tenth stolen base. In his last six games, he is 8-for-24, and his OPS is at .976 on the season.

Junior Santos was on the bump Tuesday night against the Fightin Phils and yielded five runs on nine hits in six innings to earn his third victory. After a rough first inning when he allowed the first four batters to reach base and give up three runs in the frame. He settled in and was able to pitch deep into the game for Binghamton.

Right-hander Dylan Hall notched his second save. After allowing a lead-off single, he induced a double play and recorded the final out and win for Binghamton. The 25-year-old has a 2.08 ERA with 18 strikeouts across 17.1 innings for the Ponies.

HIGH-A

Greenville Drive (29-23) 5, Brooklyn Cyclones (22-29) 3

BOX SCORE

Greenville Drive starter Dalton Rodgers, the Redsoxs No. 24 prospect on MLB Pipeline, shut down the Brooklyn Cyclones bats Tuesday night. Rodgers retired the first ten Brooklyn batters of the contest. He tossed five innings and allowed just two hits and three walks.

In the seventh, Brooklyn trailing 3-0, rallied back as Alex Ramírez stepped up to the plate with two outs and smacked a three-run game-tying homer over the left-field wall, his fifth dinger of the season. Ramirez is 5-for-10 with a double, two home runs, six batted in, and four runs scored in his last three games.

Second baseman D’Andre Smith made his season debut last night. He finished 1-for-3 with a walk and scored a run. Smith was a 5th-round pick in the 2022 draft and hit .220/.298/.440 with two homers and six RBIs in 15 games last year across two minor league levels.

William Lugo recorded his second straight multi-hit game and went 2-for-4 in the contest. The 21-year-old shortstop is still struggling, hitting .191 on the season.

Right-hander Cameron Foster did not factor into the decision Tuesday night. He permitted three run (one earned) on six hits, and issued one free pass in five innings. The 24-year-old fanned seven Greenville hitters and generated 14 swings and misses.

Kolby Kubichek took the loss as he gave up the game-winning two-run blast in the ninth to Greenville designated hitter Nick Decker.

LOW-A

Daytona Tortugas (21-31) 5, St. Lucie Mets (17-34) 6

BOX SCORE

The St. Lucie Mets won a close ball game as they held off a late rally from the Daytona Tortugas Tuesday night.

In the second inning, with the Mets trailing 2-0, Jacob Reimer led off the frame and roped his eighth double of the year. Two batters later, second baseman Kevin Villavicencio drove in Reimer with a base knock and would score later in the inning on a wild pitch taking an early 2-1 lead. Villavicencio recorded another base hit in the fourth, finishing 2-for-4 and scoring two runs.

First baseman Yeral Martinez broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning when he blasted a 425-foot two-run bomb to dead center and gave the Mets a 4-2 lead. The 20-year-old is hitting .206/.280/.371 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 107 plate appearances.

The Mets extended their lead in the seventh inning to 6-3 when shortstop Jett Williams struck a triple past the left fielder to plate a run. Third baseman Junior Tilien followed with his 14th two-base knock of the year. Tilien has a ten-game on-base streak, and his 14 doubles are among the top three in the Florida State League. The 20-year-old is 10-for-36 with one homer, eight runs batted in, five doubles, and five walks during the on-base streak.

23-year-old Karell Paz notched a pair of doubles in the game. Paz is hitting .313/.522/.500 with a 1.022 OPS in his first 23 plate appearances.

Lefty Felipe De La Cruz pitched solid across 5.2 innings against Daytona Tuesday night, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out seven on 83 pitches in the win. He is now 2-4 and lowered his ERA to 4.50 on the season.

Miguel Alfonseca notched his first save of the season. The Tortugas threatened with runners on first and second with one out, but Alfonseca induced a game-ending double play and preserved the 6-5 win for St. Lucie.

Stephen Ridings made his first rehab appearance of the season. The 6-foot-8 right-hander started the game and threw one inning, allowing one run on 17 pitches.

FLORIDA COMPLEX LEAGUE

FCL Marlins (1-0) 13, FCL Mets (1-1) 2

The Mets’ offense only mustered two runs on four hits Tuesday. Down 9-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, with back-to-back walks by Carlos Oviedo and Luis Castillo, followed by Dangelo Sarmineto reaching on an error, the Mets finally scored a pair of runs on a wild pitch and throwing error.

17-year-old Simon Juan, one of the Mets’ top International Free Agent signings from 2022, notched his second double to begin his stateside debut. In the Dominican Summer League last season, he hit .219/.310/.323 with two homers, 23 RBIs, and stole 16 bases.

Six pitchers combined to surrender 13 runs on 12 hits and issued 15 walks. Getting the starting nod Tuesday afternoon was 17-year-old Omar Victorino. The right-hander allowed one run and punched out four batters across 2.2 innings. Victorino pitched in 13 games making 11 starts in the Dominican Summer League last year, finishing 1-3 with a 5.11 ERA in 37 innings.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE

DSL Mets Orange (2-0) 4, DSL Cubs Blue (1-1) 3

The DSL Mets Orange offense went 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position and notched a pair of clutch two-out base knocks from outfielder Randy Guzman and catcher Daiverson Gutierrez in a 4-3 win over the DSL Cubs Blue.

The 18-year-old Guzman’s double broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning. In the fourth inning, The Mets’ top International Free Agent signing of 2023, Gutierrez, added an RBI single and finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Shortstop Cristopher Larez was on base three more times Tuesday. He went 1-for-2 with a run scored, a pair of walks, and stole his first bag.

20-year-old lefty Misael Lopez earned the win. He tossed two scoreless innings permitting just two hits, issuing one walk, and fanning two batters.

Arlison Rodriguez pitched two innings in relief and recorded the save. The lefty yielded a run on four hits and struck out one batter. Rodriguez pitched in the DSL last year, appearing in 18 games, going 4-3 with three saves, a 4.78 ERA, and 30 strikeouts across 26.1 innings.

DSL Colorado (1-1), 9 DSL Mets Blue (0-2) 0 

BOX SCORE

The DSL Colorado shut out the DSL Mets Blue squad 9-0. The Mets’ offense only managed six hits. Second baseman Branny De Oleo was the only Mets player to record a multi-hit game. He finished 2-for-3 with a double.

Lefty hurler Franklin Gomez started for the Mets. He threw three scoreless innings allowing three hits and two walks. Gomez pitched last season in the DSL and went 2-4 with a 3.38 ERA and 44 punchouts across 37.1 innings pitch in 14 appearances.

Four Mets relievers combined to pitch five innings and surrendered nine runs on seven hits and five walks.
