Triple-A

Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (37-41) 8, Syracuse Mets (34-44) 3

BOX SCORE

On Saturday, the Mets were 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position despite hitting three solo home runs in the game. Ortega began the first with a solo shot and he has had a hit in each of the last four games. Arauz hit his 11th home run of the year in the ninth, which ties him with a career-high for home runs in a season (11 in 2019). The infielder has homered three times in the last five games.

Butto’s problems came in the first three innings as the RailRiders put up four runs and hit a pair of home runs against him (solo shot in the second and two-run home run in the third). Even though he has allowed six home runs in his last five starts, Butto did reach a season-high with his eight strikeouts in the loss.

 Double-A

Hartford Yard Goats (32-39) 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (36-37) 2

BOX SCORE

The Rumble Ponies scored their only two runs on Saturday in the bottom of the sixth when Jordan hit a two-run double to left. As for Palmer, he has recorded a hit in back-to-back games as this is his first series in Double-A.

Chacin had retired the first nine Yard Goats in order, but then he ran into trouble in the fourth. He ended up allowing three doubles in the inning with two of them resulting in driving in runs. The right-hander has not pitched past the fourth inning in three straight starts. Meanwhile, Clenney extended his streak of not allowing an earned run to seven consecutive outings despite not recording a strikeout.

 High-A

Jersey Shore BlueClaws (39-33) 4, Brooklyn Cyclones (33-39) 0

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones’ offense struggled on Saturday as they had six hits and none of them were for extra bases. They ended up striking out 12 times against five different BlueClaws’ pitchers. Ramirez did have a pair of singles, which ended up being his 14th multi-hit game of the season.

Hernández and Reid-Foley continued their rehab assignments on Saturday and Brooklyn ended up using six pitchers in the loss. Hernandez allowed an unearned run due to a throwing error in the first and Reid-Foley allowed a solo home run in the fourth as he only threw nine pitches in his outing.

 

Low-A

Dunedin Blue Jays (36-37) 10, St. Lucie Mets (26-45) 3

BOX SCORE

Like the Triple-A affiliate, the Mets had their own issues with hitting with men in scoring position as they were 1-for-11 in those situations. Villavicencio ended up leading the team with three hits, which is the second time he has done that this year. Perozo ended up hitting a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth, his first home run since June 10.

In the final three innings, the St. Lucie pitching staff combined to give up eight runs. Ramirez still put up a quality start as he finished six innings for the first time all season. Three of the four hits that he allowed ended up being doubles.

Florida Complex League

FCL Mets (11-7) 8, FCL Cardinals (8-9) 4

BOX SCORE

The Mets scored seven of their eight runs in the final six innings of the game to pick up the win. Perera’s solo home run in the sixth was the first home run and the first hit of his professional career as he played in his first game Saturday. It ended up tying the game at four.

Morabito ended up having the first three-hit day of his career and his RBI double in the sixth put the Mets ahead, 5-4. Báez extended his hit streak to five games with an RBI double of his own in the eighth. Peraza was hit by a pitch twice and he grounded out in the first game of his rehab assignment.

Rodríguez has only allowed one hit in his last two outings and he has 16 strikeouts in his four appearances this year (13 innings of work).

Dominican Summer League

DSL Tampa Bay (9-11) 6, DSL Mets (8-11) 2

BOX SCORE

Ramirez had the headline performance of the day as he had three hits and an RBI double in the first that helped the Mets get on the board. It is his second three-hit performance of the season.

  • RHP Franyel Diaz (0.61): 3 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 6 K

Nunez had four walks in his first four outings prior to Saturday, but he struggled with command as he walked five in the loss. The Rays as a team ended up stealing five bases against the blue squad in the victory. That being said, five Mets’ pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts led by the six from Diaz (21 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings this year).

DSL NYY Bombers (11-9) 5, DSL Mets Orange (7-13) 2

BOX SCORE

The orange squad got on the board in the top of the third on a home run to left field by Vargas. Zayas had a hit in this game to give him a hit in seven of the last nine games. As for Larez, his two hits (including a double) for his fifth multi-hit performance of the year.

The Bombers got to Beltre in the second inning with a solo home run and an RBI single. Other than those hits, Beltre was able to pick up a new season-high for strikeouts. Cota did not allow a run to finish the game and he has allowed one run or fewer in four straight outings. The 19-year-old tied his season-high for strikeouts as well.
