Triple-A

 Game 1 – Lehigh Valley IronPigs (15-15) 5, Syracuse Mets (15-16) 1

While the Mets only struck out once as a team, they managed only four hits and one extra-base hit in Game 1. That hit came from a solo home run via Stewart in the bottom of the second. Stewart is tied for second on the team in home runs with Mauricio (6).

  • RHP Denyi Reyes (4.50 ERA): 4 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 K (39 of 56 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Bubby Rossman (1-2, 4.80): 1 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 2 H, BB, HBP (21 of 35 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP T.J. McFarland (1.69): 1 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K (17 of 20 pitches for strikes)

Reyes got the start and had his longest outing of the season between the majors and minors. As for McFarland, he was efficient pounding the strike zone with only having three pitches not called for strikes. Rossman ended up getting the loss as he allowed the most earned runs he’s had in any outing this year.

Game 2 – Lehigh Valley IronPigs (16-15) 4, Syracuse Mets (15-17) 0

The Mets only had one hit in Game 2 and that was a two-out single by Vientos in the bottom of the first. They combined to strike out nine times in the loss.

  • RHP David Griffin (1-1, 1.98 ERA): 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 5 BB, 2 K, HBP (51 of 91 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Eric Orze (10.50): 1/3 IP, 1 ER, H (2 of 2 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP William Woods (10.38): 1 IP, 0 ER, H, BB, K (10 of 21 pitches for strikes)

Griffin did have the longest outing of his season by going 5 2/3 innings, but he had equaled his walk total from his five outings with Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton combined. Orze only threw two pitches and one of them was a two-run home run by Scott Kingery in the sixth.

Double-A

Somerset Patriots (16-9) 4, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-13) 3

BOX SCORE

In the loss on Saturday night, the Rumble Ponies were 0-for-10 with men in scoring position. Schwartz was one of the highlights as he had an RBI triple in the top of the sixth. He is now tied for fifth in the Eastern League with 17 RBIs.

  • RHP Jose Chacin (0-1, 6.60 ERA): 5 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, BB, 2 K (42 of 67 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Alex Valverde (4.91): 2 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K (16 of 19 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Hunter Parsons (3.72): 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 R, K (9 of 12 pitches for strikes)

Chacin ended up allowing three home runs in the loss and he has allowed eight in six outing this year.

Though, the bullpen stood out for the Rumble Ponies. Parsons has now not allowed a run in five consecutive appearances and he has held opponents to a .176 average this year.

High-A

Aberdeen IronBirds (10-14) 7, Brooklyn Cyclones (8-14) 2

Like the other two affiliates, the Cyclones had their struggles on offense on Saturday as they only had three hits. Ramírez tallied the lone RBIs of the afternoon with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth. It is the fourth time the outfielder has driven in multiple runs in a game.

  • RHP Benito Garcia (1.93): 3 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K (30 of 51 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Jace Beck (6.14): 1 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 K (18 of 28 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Quinn Brodey (3.00): 1 IP, 1 H, 3 K, HBP (13 of 23 pitches for strikes)

Suarez had an up-and-down day on the mound. While he set a season-high for strikeouts with eight, he also walked the most batters he’s had in an outing this year (five) and had a pitch-clock violation. Aberdeen was also able to steal six bases against him in the loss.

In Garcia’s second outing since being promoted from St. Lucie, the 23-year-old set a season-high for strikeouts in an appearance (four). Brodey also had his season-high for strikeouts in an appearance (three).

Low-A

The St. Lucie Mets (6-19) had their game against the Jupiter Hammerheada (15-10) postponed due to rain. They will makeup the game as part of a doubleheader on May 7 with Game 1 beginning at 12:10 pm ET.
